CB Smith Songsmith

My new record Look to the Sky is out and available on most streaming platforms or as a CD at Bandcamp. It’s my most adventurous work to date, with my long-time collaborators Bill Strohm on bass and Megan Gugliotta on fiddle and cello, plus virtuosos like Joe K. Walsh on mandolin, Shoji Naito on blues harp and Eric Parker on drums, all mixed and mastered by Scott Petito.

The cover features a glorious painting by Tony Thompson, whose work I think of as a leading example of contemporary landscape painting. I hope to take this music on the road for a few dates later this year, so stay tuned.

And in the coming months I plan to offer my Transformative Songcraft Workshop at various venues. In this four-hour learning experience we look at how the best songs celebrate resilience, reinvention and recovery, and take a deep dive into our own songwriting practices, building skills to create meaningful lyrics, thoughtful instrumentation and expressive vocals.
